Mamores 2 - Sgurr a' Mhaim, Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean
Before the heat of the day, heading up the Alt Coire a' Mhusgain, no peaks in sight. |
Starting up the very steep sides of Sgurr a' Mhaim - the direct route - looking down Glen Nevis to Fort William. |
Across the Alt Coire a' Mhusgain to our second hill, Stob Ban in the mist. |
And behind us, Ben Nevis in the mist. |
A clearer view of Stob Ban on the left, and our third hill at the back on the right - we covered a fair distance

Another look down Glen Nevis. |

The top of Sgurr a'Mhaim, looking East to Binnein Mor and Binnein Beag, with Sgurr Choinnich Mor over Glen Nevis on the left
Heading off down the "Devil's Ridge" |

Looking East, we can see Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichean, and Am Bodach on the right. |
|
At the foot of the unnamed 1001 peak. |
From this beleach we could see back down the Allt Coire a Mhusgain and Glen Nevis, and away to the North. |
Stob Ban has an impressive North face. |
|
Nevis on the left and the steep shoulder of Sgurr a'Mhaim that we climbed earlier on the right.
From the top of Stob Ban we could see the ridge running round to Mullach nan Coirean, and decided we were so close we should just to that one too.
And just to the left was Loch Linnie, and hills.
And to our right, Ben Nevis out of the clouds, the Aonachs, Sgurr a'Mhaim and the Devils Ridge, and behind that Binnein Mor, and Am Bodach for another day.

So far we have climbed Sgurr a'Mhaim in the middle, then along the ridge and up Stob Ban which is the white peak towards the right, then along the curving ridge to the top of Mullach nan Coirean. What a fantastic day out. Oh yes, in the distance on the right you can see the Anoch Eagach ridge, Bidean Nam Bain, and way off to the South Ben Cruachan - honest! And on the left middle are some Grey Corries including SgurrChoinnichMor, Aonach Mor, and Ben Nevis back behind the clouds again.
The rather large cairn on top of Mullach nan Coirean |
South to Beinn a Bheithir. |
On top of the Mullach |
View from the top, taking in the route we have followed from Stob Ban |
and another picture of our day so far, from the white peak of Sgurr a'Mhaim, across the Devil's ridge then up Stob Ban and along the ridge to here (Mullach nan Coirean)
From here we could just make out the tops of Meall na Tanga and Sron a'Choire Ghairbh. |
Another view of Stob Ban |
One final view of Sgurr a'Mhaim. What a day. Brilliant. |
