Aonach Beag and Mor - the proper way

Beag is definitely bigger and better than Mor

On the way in we passed the impressive waterfall under An Garbhanach, in full flow.

Looking back down Glen Nevis to the Mountain Rescue Hut, thankfully not needed.

Aonach Beag up there somewhere.

Up the (steep) side of the Allt Coire Giubhsachan

It did flatten out, but it took a while to cross the river.  Looking back to An Garbhanach and the Mamores.

Next steep bit, up towards the shoulder of Aonach Beag, with the Coire Giubhsachan below, and the back of Nevis looming up behind.

More Mamores.

From the left we have Binnein Mor, Na Gruagaichean, An Garbhanach, Am Bodach, the 1001 peak and Sgur a'Mhaim.  Can still see that waterfall too.

And onto the ridge leading up to Aonach Beag.

The beleach between Carn Mor Dearg and Aonach Mor, and a big cliff.  Our route back brings us down to that beleach.  Great Glen behind.

Did I mention we could see the Mamores?  Binnein Beag, Sgurr Eilde Mor and Binnein Mor pictured, rising above the Water of Nevis.

Yes, that waterfall again.  Another up bit as we head up the ridge to the top.

Carn Mor Dearg, looking dodgy even without snow!

Aonach Beag.  The top.  Very impressive, honest.

With a steep drop away on the other side

The views always make it worthwhile

Aonach Mor on the left.

Looking back to the top, and up the Water of Nevis towards the East.

And over there Sgur Chonnich Mor

On this side we have Carn Mor Dearg

And to the left of that, Ben Nevis

Carn Mor Dearg out the mist

Checking how we get back down

Nevis, Carn Mor Dearg,

the bealach, and North to the Great Glen.

And away to the North East I am sure we can see Stob Coire an Laoigh and who knows what else.

Now we can see why you don't climb Aonach Beag from the East.

Mamores

Sgurr Choinich Mor and Stob Coire Easain (not the munro one though it's 1080 metres so I guess we must be able to see Stob Coire an Laoigh too.

Aonach Beag

Top of Aonach Mor - a bit disappointing as hills go.

Loch Eil and Corpach

Coming back down Mor to find the cairn marking a very steep path down.

Start of the very steep path down, with the upper section of Alt Coire Giubhsachan below

And looking North down Alt Daim

Nearly down this bit.

Right, just to traipse down there, round the corner, down, along and we are home.

Descended from the beleach and the hill on the right.

Aonach Beag behind us, nice and clear now we are down!

And a final Mamore, Binnein Beag, above the ruins at Steall
