It's the big one - Ben Nevis

Long walk, but great when the mist cleared at the top

9 o'clock at the car park- Maureen and John get booted up

Not looking like the best of days, but always live in hope

Still walking in hope

Eventually about 1/4 of the way up we emerged from the cloud

After the first zig and the flat we got to the waterfall

Suitable rocks were put to good use

Overlooking Meall an t-Suidhe

Just come from down there, somewhere

Glimpse of the Mamores - Mullach nan Coirean I think

Looking back up Loch Eil - spot the walkers!

And on up the zag - Mamores in the background again.

Then up the gravel path and through the snow - it's a long way to go

And on and on

Carn Dearg - we didn't go there

and on and on

A bird - Snow Bunting?  It's the white bit on the right.  Very high up.

At last, the top, after about three and a half hours.  Not bad for five miles and 1300 metres vertical.  Time for a quiet moment of reflection to drink in the solitude and remoteness of it all.  What a view!

Summit trig point, and mountain rescue shelter in the mist.

Sandwich time at last

A popular spot, the top of this here country.

The rescue hut, including rubbish!

Mullach nan Coirean I think?  From the top.

And then it cleared up and was even more fantastic.  This is what I love.  Wow.  The Mamores in all their glory - Sgurr Eilde Mor, Binnein Mor and Na Gruagaichean on the left, An Gearnach and Am Bodach.in the middle, and Sgurr a'Mhaim, Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean on the right. We could see as far as Bidean nam Bian though the camera didn't pick that up

A popular spot

The cliffs to the North, and a long way down according to John.

Rescue hut and the Mamores, from the summit cairn.

Those Mamores again.

The Carn Mor Dearg ridge, so narrow it slipped out the picture.

Chilling out after the long walk up - quite a hike.  Spent nearly an hour up here.

And the way back down, across the rocky plateau

Mullach nan Coirean again I think

Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil

The alternative descent, not recommended.

Mamores with Aonach Eagach in the background I think

Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe.  Couldn't see that on the way up.

Some zig-zag path pictures (only one zig and zag down there).

From the waterfall pictured above, looking down

Glen Nevis and the Mamores ( link?)

Last mile of the very good path, what a long climb this was, but great to see the top.  Another four hours to get down, and another five miles.
