Aonach Buidhe
| Decent forecast, so Saturday morning I headed north to Killilan and up Glen Elchaig by bike to attempt some Corbetts. |
Camped at the red dot, walked the loop |

![]() At the top of a wee rise, looking back. Hard going with a fully laden bike. |
![]() After about 45 minutes I was alongside Loch na Leitreach and selected a nice wee spot to setup camp. First hill hiding up there on the left. Only another couple of miles to where I will leave the bike. |
![]() Campsite looking West. |
![]() Loads of deer up this road, mostly very docile as well. |
![]() Starting the climb up to the pass above Loch Mhoidean, looking back to Loch na Leitreach |
![]() The way forward. |
![]() Loch Mhoidean, and An Socach behind. Last time I was here it was all white. |
![]() Last look back for a while. |
![]() Opted to go the long way, to the bottom of Coire nan Each, so all the way down there, just to turn left and come back along the ridge over Aonach Cas and An Creachal Beag. The further down here I went the worse the idea seemed. |
![]() Heading up Aonach Cas, looking North to the hills at the top of Loch Monar and so much more. |
![]() And out to the west I could make out Skye, but more of that tomorrow. |
![]() Pait Lodge should be down there on the right, at the head of Loch Monar. In the middle Bideana Choire Sheasgaich and LurgMhor, and behind those Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a'Chaorachain. And on the left I think that's Beinn Dronaig which I should probably have done while up here. Oh well just have to go back. Great bit of the world. |
![]() Getting closer, but it was a good two miles along the ridge. And that's not even the summit, just An Creachal Beag. |
![]() An Socach on the left, then Mullach na Dheiragain which Mark and I did from Iron Lodge back in 2004. And other hills. |
![]() Still not at the end of the ridge |
![]() Finally get sight of the summit. |
![]() View back along the ridge |
![]() North to all those hills above Glen Carron |
![]() North west - Faochaig (one of tomorrow's hills) looking daunting. |
![]() And South East to the hills at the top of Loch Mullardoch. |
![]() Nearly home, tent is halfway down that loch. |
![]() Simply stunning. |
![]() And safely back at the tent, enjoying a refreshment and watching the sun set. |
![]() 10:15pm - time for bed. Today's approximate tally - cycle 11.5 miles, walked 7.5 miles. Felt longer! |
