Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a'Chaorachain
![]() Uphill on the way in, so a good excuse to stop and take pictures was welcome. Think that's Fuar Tholl (a Corbett). |
![]() And the track ahead - Sgurr nan Ceannaichean has now been declared a Corbett, after being made up to a munro in 1981. Still looks impressive. |
![]() Initial view of my second target, Sgurr a'Chaorachain |
![]() And now we see Sgurr Chonnich too. |
![]() After about an hour cycling in to Pollan Buidhe, time to dump the bike and hit the hills. |
![]() First thing is to climb up to the Bealach Bhearnais on the right, then up the hill on the left. |
![]() Looking back down to Pollan Buidhe and up the glen from the bealach, with the shoulder of Sgurr Choinnich on the right and Moruisg in the distance on the left. |
![]() Slightly further over the bealach, with Sgurr Choinnich on the left, leading out to it's southern top Sgurr na Conbhaire, and on the right Lurg Mhor. So tempting, but for another day. |
![]() Lurg Mhor and the impressive Bidean a' Choire Sheasgaich, with the side of Beinn Tharsuinn on the right. |
![]() Back down to Pollan Buidhe, with Sgurr nan Ceannaichean and Moruisg behind. I think we can even see Beinn Eighe way off in the distance. |
![]() And to the South, Lurg Mhor and Bidean a' Choire Sheasgaich again. |
![]() A rocky bit, framing the shoulder of Sgurr nan Ceannaichean and the trail I biked up earlier. |
![]() From the peak before the top of Sgurr Choinnich, toward Sgurr a'Chaorachain. |
![]() The top, looking towards Sgurr nan Ceannaichean and Moruisg |
![]() And to the North West - Beinn Liath Mhor and Sgorr Ruadh and maybe even Maol Chean-dearg |
![]() Still impressive looking south to Lurg Mhor and Bidean a' Choire Sheasgaich. Also got Beinn Tharsuinn which you have to go over to get there. |
![]() Sgurr a'Chaorachain still to be climbed on the left. |
![]() Just come from there... |
![]() and before that came from way down there among the trees. |
![]() Top of Sgurr a'Chaorachain | ![]() Impressive Torridon hills |
![]() Another shot to the South west, same hills just further away now. |
![]() Maoile Lunndaidh over on the left, for my next trip, and Bidean an Eoin Deirg (another top) on the right. Too far for me today. |
![]() Look back to Sgurr Choinnich before I descended. |
![]() A steep descent, but nice waterfall. |
![]() Useful sign if you were lost here! |
![]() Another look at Sgurr Choinnich and Bealach Bhearnais from the track. |
![]() And back down the track to civilisation |
