Aonach Shasuinn and Carn a'Choire Ghairbh

(Ridge of the Sassenach and Cairn of the Rough Corrie).  Names make no sense!

Great wee day out, with an overnight to save a very early start

Strangely the carpark at the end of the road does not allow overnight parking, which saved me some money but was a pain.

Just a wee walk in with my kit, before a night in the woods.  So many hills around here.

View from a bridge

Sgurr ne Lapaich (it was an original "Munro" but now it is just a "Munro Top") and Mam Sodhail.

Walk in.  Cycists beat me!

Found a spot on a wee island.  Tight, but a great pitch.

What else could you ask for?

Friday - a couple of Corbetts, and a hill in between.  Not sure Outdoor Active is so good on hights - it's only 2,901 feet!

Lovely walk up through the woods to start.

Mam Sodhail. and Sgurr ne Lapaich again - they do kind of dominate the view north.

And a view of the first hill - Aonach Shasuinn on the left, with An Elric in the distance, and the shoulder of Carn a Choire Griabh on the right.  So much to do.

Opted for the steeper left side of the corrie.

Many hills indeed.

Come a fair way already, and that nasty steep ascent done.

The top on this one is one of these two pathetic cairns, not the big thing over there.

One of the tops of Sail Chaorainn that I did before.  An Elric to the right, in the foreground thankfully.

More hills.

Backward glance before the first descent.

Think we have Mullach Froach Choire in the middle background, with my next hill on the left and last hill on the right.

And to the left, the confusing peaks of Sail Chaorainn.

Looking down the Allt Garbh glen

A Chralaig and Mullach Froach Choire- a good walk

Looking back to Aonach Shassuinn - the down and up has disappeared into moor!

And one more down and up to get onto Cairn a Choire Ghairbh, which wasn't too bad.

Then just the ridge to walk down.

View of hills

Not the summit cairn

Summit over there!

Made it.

Glorious.  A Chralaig and Mullach Froach Choire again

Sail Chaorainn.

Loads to see up here

And the long walk back.

Along the ridge, looking back - come a good bit now.

First hill over there

And second hill over there.

Final view up Loch Affric and Loch  Beinn a Mheadhoin before descending.

Below the tree line, done all those today.

And then home.
