Carn Ghluasaid, Sgurr nan Conbhairean, and Sal Chaorinn
Off we go, from Loch Cluanie, up the old military road. |
First view down Loch Claunie, with the bottom of the South Glen Shiel Ridge under the cloud |
Helpful line of rocks heading up. |
The top of Carn Ghluasaid is rather flat and featureless, and in the mist I thought this might be the top. |
Could still make out the rather large snow corniches which I avoided |
Another cairn, and some research suggests this may be the top. |
With a bit of map and compass work I eventually found the top of Sgurr nan Conbhairean. I hope? |
Can anyone confirm if this is the summit cairn? |
Crossing the ridge down from Sgurr nan Conbhairean I got occassional glimpes of how high up I was. |
|
Looking across to Stob Coire na Craliag I think, from which I got great views of these hills the following week. |
And I think this is the top of Sal Chaorinn |
Looking forward it seemed all downhill, so that must have been the summit, then I noticed a bit of a hill over there! |
|
Looking back at what I think was the correct top of Sal Chaorinn from further North |
|
However just to make sure I did the next top |
No, that one back there was definitely higher. |
No more uphill, so job done. |
Another cairn |
Definitely the top? |
And a cairn on the peak above Gorm Lochan, just for the hell of it. |
The views do make it all worthwhile |
Gorm Lochan, with ice pack! |
A view of something at last |
And a final shot of Loch Cluanie, with South Glen Shiel Ridge still in the clouds - but check next week up A' Cralaig for something more impressive. |
