Beinn Damh (Hill of the Stag)
![]() |
| Set off from a little bridge betweeen Torridon and Sheidaig |
The initial woodland walk was really nice, despite me having to double back to close the car window. |
Unsurpisingly I got good views of Beinn Alligin, with more to come. |
And on the other side - Liathach - I split that in two - Mullach an Rathain one day and SpideanaChoireLeith two years later. |
And then we hit the open hillside, and took the right fork. |
![]() Hadn't realised you can't see the top from here! But the route heads up to the central beleach |
![]() And the full set of key Torridon peaks. Sorry for the slightly dodgy picture stitching! |
That's more like what is should look like over there. |
![]() Top 868 of Beinn Damh, which I sadly thought was the top. Must get a new map! |
Reached the ridge, and got a veiw south west to Loch Kishorn? |
![]() |
![]() From the shoulder of 868 looking north west over Sgurr na Bana Mhoraire, with the route I followed on the way up to the right. Loch Damh on the left, and Loch Torridon heading out to sea. |
The top, or so I thought. A bit of a check and I realised that it was the next summit, over there. Still a nice view of An Ruadh Stac behind it (still to do that corbett) and Maol Chean-dearg on the left. |
![]() So onwards I marched. Still looks a bit of a way away! |
Looking back to the top I have just come over. |
![]() |
Finally made the real top. All worth it. |
![]() Tomorrow's hills are over there on the left somewhere. |
Loch Kishorn, and Skye off in the distance. |
Decided to stay on the path rather than take the shortcut. Then off up Glen Torridon for an overnight camp, and more hills tomorrow. |
