Maoll Chean-deargh

Another day out in the Torridon mountains - brilliant.

Another good path, leading in from Coulags.

Cheery or what!

Coire Fionnaraich bothy, very nice it was too, and what a setting, sitting under Sgorr Ruadh

And behind it on the left, Maoll Chearn-dearg

I think this is the Clach nan Con-fionn famous (?) rock that the legendary Fionn tethered his hunting dogs?  No sign of him today though.

Bealach a'Choire Ghaen, with Meall nan Ceapairean on the left, and the start of the climb up Maol Chean-dearg on the right.

On the way up, good views of Liathach on the left, Beinn Eighe next to it, and coming round to the right the ridge of Beinn Liath Mhor is sticking up behind Sgorr Ruadh

Rather a scree-y scramble up the quartzite side

Summit cairn on Maoll Chean-dearg

From the top the views were just stunning.  Beinn Aligin on the left, then the Liathach ridge (Mullach an Rathian and Spidean a'Choire Leith), both very impressive, and on the right the white of Beinn Eighe.
 Makes it all worthwhile.

I know this is similar to the above, but it brings the view right round to the Beinn Liath Mhor ridge and Sgorr Ruadh on the right, which was also pretty impressive.

Closer view of  Beinn Aligin on the left, then the Liathach ridge (Mullach an Rathian and Spidean a'Choire Leith).  Bit hazy but splendid all the same.

Looking back down to South of Coulags with An Ruadh-stac on the right

And looking over Meall nan Ceapairean towards Coulags itsefl

Rocky path down

Checking the Clach nan Con-fionn with Coire Fionnaraich bothy in the background.  Off to pitch camp in the Strathcarron hotel hen field.
