Slioch - The Spear

First hill of the year, and great to get back out on the slopes

Friday night it was all a bit dark and on Saturday morning it didn't look inspiring, but that is the first hill for the weekend.

Proof positive I was there.  Top of Slioch still in the clouds.

Unforutnately to get up the hill you have to cross the river and walk from a mile or so further away than the campsite, but it is a lovely bit of the world.

Still seems a long way from the hill!

Starting to get some height above Loch Maree, starting up Gleann Bianasdail.  In theory you should be able to see my tent from here!  Beinn Eighe becoming visible at the back.

Once over the ardous rise you get to see the hill.  Work half done.  But what a lovely place.

And after walking up that corrie and all the way up the glen, time for a climb again.  But this is the easy bit.

And the tent is just down there!

Trig  point, which is not the top of the hill, which seems somewhat unfair.

First sight of the trig point top from the real top.

Loch Maree, from the top.  Views not quite what I had hoped!

Been there, done that!

And the rest of the ridge is my next challenge.  Harder than it looks!

Fisherfield Six (now five) in the distant haze.

A more interesting ridge than Slioch itself - heading for Sgurr an Tuill Bhain

Must be near the top, looking back at Slioch in all its glory

Another look at the Fisherfield Forest - Bein Tarsuinn was at least visible.

Back at camp - time for a beer.
