Beinn Eighe - another great Torridon ridge
![]() Always nice to start the day with a view of what we have already done - Beinn Alligin on the left, and Mullach an Rathain, at the start of Liathach on the right. That was yesterday. |
![]() Spidean Coire nan Clach, the first peak I did on the ridge. And I pretty much went straight up that corrie under the summit, which was a mistake. Take the stalkers path on the right! |
![]() Still, the views were good going up this way - looking South to Sgorr Ruadh and the rest of those ones |
![]() The grassy bits were pretty steep, and I had to reverse down a stream when it got a bit steep.... |
![]() ..then it got all scree, and steeper. |
![]() Scree |
![]() The trig point on top of Spidean Coire nan Clach. My route takes me over the ridge, from left to right, and up Ruadh-stac Mor on the right. On the left we can see Spidean a'Choire Leith and Mullach an Rathain (the Liathach ridge, but I just did either end). |
![]() However the true summit is over there, on that slightly rocky looking spur - had second thoughts about it.
![]() But I did venture out there. Trail on the left is where the stalkers' path comes out, trig point is in the middle, then we have Liathach (with Mullach an Rathain poking out at the end. Way off in the distance is Beinn Alligin. So now I have to go all the way round the ridge and beyond.
![]() That is Ruadh-stac Mor on the right again |
![]() The path |
![]() The path, and the trig point at the end of it. |
![]() Looking back up Spidean Coire nan Clach from along the ridge |
![]() And again. The front right scree is what I came up earlier. |
![]() Beinn Alligin again |
![]() Second summit getting closer |
![]() From a top along the ridge, looking back to Spidean Coire nan Clach and the ridge traversed so far. |
![]() And still to go, though I took a shortcut across the face in front rather than climb another top. Ruadh-stac Mor not the most interesting part of the day. |
![]() Now this is a descent. You can see the path at the bottom. Actually it wasn't too bad, honest. |
![]() The peak of Ruadh-stac Mor from the top of the descent. Out there and back before I have to go down. |
![]() Looking back round to Spidean Coire nan Clach from the col |
![]() And from the top of Ruadh-stac Mor, with the Triple Buttress on the left, and behind that Spideann Choire Leith at the East end of Liathach. Further off on the right is Beinn Alligin. |
![]() And to the East. Done the ridge on the right. More big hills off in the distance. |
![]() Torridon hills |
![]() And then back to the col to look down to Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair.
![]() Mummy Daddy! A bit rocky. |
![]() Made it this far. |
![]() And it eased off from here. |
![]() |
![]() Impressive all the same. |
![]() Coire Mhic Fhearchair, with the Triple Buttress |
![]() So good it needed another picture from the far end. |
![]() Path on the way out, with Beinn Alligin and some others. Nice place. |
![]() |
![]() Did I mention the paths were pretty good (apart from the scree)? |
![]() The other bit of the massive, that I didn't do - Sail Mhor, Conneach Mhor. Spidean Coire nan Clach on the right |
![]() |
![]() Last couple of views of Spidean Coire nan Clach and Coire na Laoigh that I went up |
