Three or Four of the famous Five Sisters of Kintail - 9 February 2003.

Three munros and a Spanish Top = Brilliant

Thanks to Stuart for some of these splendid pictures

So after the usual lengthy preparation, (several bottles of whisky between 5, in very few hours) we decided to make our move on the Five Sisters on the Sunday, leaving plenty of time for further drinking on the Saturday.  Some ski-ing and snowboarding did take place, and we did actually have another couple of shandies to get us into the hillwalking mood.  Sunday dawned at some ungodly hour, and we were off.

The Five Sisters of Kintail, a Picture by someone else.  We did manage the three on the right (left the two little sisters for another day!)

At the foot of the hill, looking towards the South Glen Sheil Ridge

On the way up.  Looking South across the valley to the end of the South Glen Shiel Ridge.

Up, up and up.  A good steep climb to warm us up.

From the side of the hill leading up to Bealach an Lapain.  View of Faochag and The Saddle catching the sun.

Somewhere along the route.  We are the boys.

After the Bealach it was relatively easier for a bit, heading along the ridge towards Sgurr nan Spainteach.

A summertime view of Sgurr nan Spainteach.

Hard to believe this isn't a munro, as it was hard going.

Nearly at the top I hope, looking back down to Bealach an Lapain.

Or maybe not so near the top yet.  Hey wait for me guys!

This is the life.

Looking back across to Saileag.

Time for a rest and another look back

And more up!

The top of the Spanish hill.  And we thought we had scaled our first munro of the day too!

Another one prepared earlier, showing the view West from the top.  I think this shows our three munros, Sgurr na Ciste Dubh, Sgurr na Carnach and Sgurr Fhuirian?
Last view East from the top before the first descent

A little sprachle down here.

And there is the first Munro in the mist, Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe.

That is the hard scrambly bit back there.  Harder than it looks.....

...but possibly easier than the alternative route.

The top.  We have just come from over there

Magic

And then we are off again.

And that's where we are going next, up the sunny hill on the right.

And here we are at the top of Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe

A cracking picture of Loch Duich from Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe

South Glen Shiel ridge from the top of Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe...

...and Sgurr na Sgine and The Saddle.

View back to where we have been.  Spanish hill is the one in the middle, I think?

View back to Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe from Sgurr ne Carnach

Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe in front of the South Glen Sheil Ridge

And looking back to Sgurr ne Carnach

from the side of Sgurr Fhuaran.

Top of Sgurr Fhuaran, munro number three, and either 3rd or 4th sister depending on how

you count!  We have just done all the horizon -  Stuart helps to make up the numbers!

These guys just kept getting into the pictures

Yes, we have done all those.  Or is this looking North West?

More magic hills that we may well have climbed, or not!

Strange "glory" or some-such optical spectical.

And off home we go.  Loch Duich.  And the car is down there too.

What a fantastic day, weather was pretty much superb and the hills just beautiful.  Makes all that whisky drinking worthwhile.
