Carn nan Gabhar and Morrone - a big day out
![]() Initial view of the first hill. Lovely day for it. |
And looking across the glen to Morrone, which doesn't look that far, does it? |
![]() Carn nan Gabhar on the right, round to Carn an Tuire |
![]() Loch Callater all frozen. And the top of Carn an t-Sagairt Mor on the left |
![]() And looking north to Braemar and the Cairngorms - too many to mention. Morrone on the left still looks quite close. |
![]() From the top of Carn nan Gabhar we can see right up Glen Shee to The Cairnwell |
![]() I am pretty sure this is East from the summit |
![]() Lower Glen Shee to the Cairngorms |
![]() Though this is East I think (and maybe North- aeriels on top of Cairnwell maybe visibile). |
Another view of the two cairns on the top |
![]() |
Descending into Glen Callater. As I was back at the car for 2:30 I rather rashly decided to "nip" up Morrone. Failed to recognise I had already done 12km and was therefore already tired! |
View up Glen Shee just after crossing Clunie Water (there was a bridge). |
On the track up Morrone, a bit of a trek. |
And still to all this to go to get to the top. |
![]() As it flattened out I got a lovely view of Carn nan Gabhar |
![]() And to the North, the hills of West GlenShee |
![]() And to the North, the top of Morrone where the mast is. |
![]() |
![]() Not a desolate, remote top, but the top nevertheless |
![]() |
| Then back to the car, another 4kms up (and 4kms back). But worth it all |
