Sgorr Craobh a' Chaorainn and Sgurr Ghiubhsachain

(Peak of the Mountain Ash, and Peak of the Fir Trees - where do they get these names!)

After a very rainy night, the day dawned, full of midgies.  My slightly boggy pitch had become a little damper overnight!  Yesterday's fun here.

Cycling in yesterday saved a couple of miles at the start.

Yesterday I wandered over this, today I had to detour about half a mile up stream and cross at the deer fence!

Just a reminder of the deer fence!

Not the most inspiring morning, but the day did improve.

Path doubling up as a wee stream!  Same hills to the north as yesterday.

Start of the ridge.  Up and up.

View of yesterday's hill (Stob a'Bhealach an Sgriodain). Finally convinced I did the highest bit of it.

Top of Sgorr Croab a'Chaorainn.  No trees in sight!  Sgurr Ghiubhsachain on the right, and yesterday's Stob a' Bhealach an Sgriodain on the left.

Bit of Loch Eil visible below.

Only another two miles to the second hill.

Slightly tricky rocky bit I had to come down.  As much fun as it looks.

From the foot of the last hill, looking back to Sgorr Craobh a'Chaorainn.  To the right is the glen I went up and down yesterady to get to Stob a Bhealach an Sgriodain.  Maybe should have tried all three in one day!

And a slightly expanded version from slightly higher up

Yesterday's hill again.  With Carn na Nathrach popping up behind - still to attempt that one.

Final ascent - took the rockier, steeper left hand side route, and it was fine.

Summit.  View down Cona Glen.  All worth it.

Looking back to Sgorr Craobh a'Chaorainn.  Need to get past that to get home.

Still clouds to the north, so can't really spot hills.

Yesterday's hill again.

And to the west, ridge to Stob a Bhealach an Sgriodain and Loch Sheil.

Over Loch Sheil to Beinn Odhar Beag and some others.  Need another few days in this neck of the woods.

Came down the slightly easier right hand side

At the foot of Sgurr Ghiubhsachain, contemplating the planned route back over Sgorr Craobh a'Chaorainn, or dropping down to yesterday's path back.

Opted for the path - good call I think.

Campsite river much lower now, and crossable with ease.

All packed and ready to head down.

Last gate negotiated.  Time for home.
