Fraochaidh

Long walk, but great views

Lovely morning.  Sadly that is Sgorr a'Choise - no where near my hill.

And that is only the 718 metre top, still no sign of my hill.

Somewhat bizarre sign to Glen Creran, in the middle of nowhere.

First of many views back down Gleann an Fhiodh.  About 3 miles in.

Still no sign of Fraochaidh.  Beainn a'Bheithir on the right.

Sgorr Dhearg on the left, the ridge back to Sgorr a'Choise in the middle, with Glencoe behind.

Now you are having a laugh - still no sign of Fraochaidh.

Beinn a'Bheithir to the left, Nevis off in the distance, and to the right of the the Mamores.  And the Pap of Glencoe.  Magnificent.

Fraochaidh at last.  Just another couple of miles and 1200 feet to go.

View up Glen Ure, with Beinn Sgulgaird on the right and Beinn Fhionnlaidh on the left.  And so much more.

Aonach Eagach, and Bidean Nam Bian amongst so many others.

A wee lochan, with Loch Linnhe behind.  Hill does not seem to be getting closer.

Progress made.

Another look back.

Pretty hill.  Loch Creran on the left, Loch Linnhe on the right.

Ardnamurchan hills.

Yet another look back.  Beinn a'Bheithir still on the left.

The final ascent.

But still a treck to the summit.

Little flurry of snow to keep things cool.

Summit pile.  Could see Jura, Mull, and lots more.  All worth it.

West.

East

North

Heading back down, long way to go, but what a vista.

Final view of Fraochaidh before it disappeared again.  What a day.

Beinn a' Bheithir still looking good.

The way home.  All those other hills looking good too.

And then it all disappeared as I rounded the corner and headed back to Ballachulish.
