So after a wee trip up Carn Chuinneag, I did a cycle up the Alladale River and Gleann Mor past Deanich Lodge to the end of tomorrow's walk up Carn Ban. Didn't appreciate
how much climbing was involved, though that explains why I was pretty knackered when I got there!
Gleann Mor was quite a long one, and much narrower than this looks.
And on it goes.
Nearly at the end thankfully. Deanich Lodge just round the corner on the left, and campsite over the river on the right after that first shoulder.
Made it. Looking further up Gleann Mor towards the weir/the end of the road.
And a glance back east. Time for a beer, and bed.
Next morning, getting ready to hit the hill.
On foot from the start to the top and back to the tent (7 miles and 2007 feet of ascent), then half an hour to pack up, and a 9 mile cycle back (about 30 minutes quicker than the cycle up!)
Ascending above the weir. Good ascent.
Getting nearer the top, things not looking so promising.
Loch Coire Mhic Mhathain I think, but hard to tell.
Summit cairn, not looking very white to be honest.
Strange mushroom fungus thing. Didn't eat it.
As usual, once off the top the clouds started to lift!
Heading down. Track below is the cycle home, right to Strath Vaich and Glascarnoch, left to Glencalvie and home for me.
Not sure where I am looking here, but it was good.
Tent is down there at the crossroads, though I can't see it. Abhainn a' Ghilinne Bhig winding it's way down Gleann Beag and into Gleann Mor.
Green temts very hard to spot in pictures of green hills! But nearly back to the tent and bike.
And back on the road, overlooking Ceanich Lodge. Gleann Mor (the way home) up the glen on the left.
Looking back to the campsite from the same spot. Track down the hill just to the left of the defile not really visible.
Another wistful look back. Farewell for ever (unless maybe there are Grahams up here?).
And more road ahead. Lovely place, and mostly downhill from here.
Back at the carpark, suppossed to be an arty shot of the first hill but it didn't really work. Still a good two days/one night out. Until the next time....
