Carn Chuinneag

Decent forecast, nothing on the calendar, so an opportunity to get some hills in.

Quick afternoon hill after the drive up to Glencalvie.  3 miles on bike, and about 2 miles on foot to the top, then the return which was even faster.  Good start.

Setting off from Glencalvie Lodge - quite a smart pad.

Then the open road, with the hill ahead.

Getting closer.  Another big house up on the hill to the right.

Time to leave the bike and hit the path.  Counted 8 people ahead, popular place!

First person I caught up with.  Overtook ten in all on the way up, who all seemed to vanish as I didn't see them on the way back!

Unnamed spot looking back up Glen Calvie to the car.

And the trail ahead.  Still a good climb ahead.

Took the right fork, so I could get the bouldery bit.  Last sight of humans on this hill, still looking north to the car.

Bouldery bit.  Made for a wee change.

Distant hills of Sutherland.  Tomorrow's hill is out there somewhere too.

Finally got sight of the actual summit.  And no-body around.

Wee cairn on top of the westerly top.

Summit in sight, thankfully not as far as it looks here.

Spot the three Ptramigans

There they are.

Summit cairn.  Could see to both the Dornoch Firth and the Cromarty Firth.  Splendid.

To the north west, interesting hills, with tomorrow's target (Carn Ban) on the left somewhere maybe?

A big mushroom.  Didn't eat it!

Stopped off at the unnamed shoulder on the way down, looking back up Glen Calvie to the car.

And the hill, from the same spot.
Then I picked up the bike and headed back to the car to get geared up for the next stage.
