Meal a'Phubuill - Hill of the Tent
Decent forecast for a couple of days, so some extreme social distancing was in order. Plan was this hill on Friday and another couple on Saturday, but sadly only one hill completed. |
Decent track beside the River Loy, with Druim Fada to the South |
Track deteriorated a bit further up. For a while I was concerned that the hill in front might be my target, but that's Meall Onfhaidh, The Hill of Fury, which is a Graham. Not down to them yet! |
That is my hill, a lot steeper and harder than it looks. |
Some way still to go |
Hills of Ardgour in the background |
Cracking stuff |
The ridge I am heading down after the summit. Loch Arkaig on the left. |
Looking to Gulvain from the summit. |
Loads of hills. |
The Druim Gleann Laoigh ridge home. Plus more hills. |
Proper social distancing. |
From the start of the ridge, looking back to the hill I have just done, with Gulvan in the background. |
The ridge in all it's glory. What a day. |
And looking back up the ridge - it was a long one. |
On the drive back to Fort Augustus I stopped to capture this - Aonach Mor, Carn Dearg and Ben Nevis all looking resplendent. |
![]() A quiet night of relaxation, maybe not quite the full 2 metres but.... This was the day it was announced pubs were shutting. |
The next day I had a walk up the path that follows the Allt Leachdach, past the Wee Minister, who is looking the worse for wear these days. |
Had hoped to get up Sgurr Innse (on the left), but it was windy and icy and I was tired, so didn't quite get to the top. |
Had also hoped to head up Cruach Innse on the way back, but again not today. |
So near, yet so far. |
And Cruach Innse. Oh well one day I will get back here and up these two. |
Shoulder of Stob Choire Claurigh on the left, and Cruach Innse on the right |
To the east, Stob a' Choire Mheadhoin and Stob Coire Easian looking enticing. |
