Firstly as they look, allegedly!
Ben Lawers from Beinn Ghlas, not like when we were there.
And Beinn Ghlas from nearby. This was more like what we saw the second time we tried, in the howling gale!
No pictures from the actual ascents of these hills, but honest we did do them!
Here are a few snaps of our aborted attempt 18 January 2004, which I touched up with what was the latest software at that time, so sorry if they appear a little off colour.
After failing to get to our original destination due to road conditions, but before rescuing Chris who at least made an attempt to get up the road to Glen Lyon. |
And after the extra walking/pushing we decide to attempt Ben Lawers. |
First hurdle - okay it's only a style |
But a very nice style. |

Ridge of Beinn Ghlas ahead. |
Loch Tay behind us, as the weather gets worse. |
Decision - should we stay or should we go? |
We pushed on until the winds got too strong. Stuart in the process of losing his camera case and hat! |
Time to turn back. 50mph winds gusting to 70, and we still had a ridge to scale. No way. - to the pub! |
Somewhere up there is a mountain top. |
| And the expiremental bit - can anyone see the little movies?
Blown away and Snowman.
Thanks Stuart. |

Did you know someone once built a huge cairn on the summit of Ben Lawers (little now remains apparently) to raise it to the select company of Scotland's 4000ft mountains. As if it wasn't big enough already!
