Ben Klibreck

The frozen North!  Scotland's second most northerly munro.

Drove up Thursday, and after a cold night, time to get packed up and up that hill, just visible at the back.

After finding a bridge to cross the river, a yomp over the bog, and a decision to go round rather than  up this face.

More bog, with a view to Ben Hope on the left,  and Ben Loyal in the middle.  Loch nan Uan on the right, below A'Chioch which is the shoulder of Ben Klibreck, and where I am headed.

From around the top of Creag an Lochain looking South West - the scenic route avoiding steep snowy slopes.

Blue sky - a wonderful sight, full of hope for the top

And looking to the hill, with A'Chioch in front and Meann nan Con (Ben Klibreck's summit) on the right.  Beautiful.

Ben Hee, Ben Hope and Ben Loyal, with Loch Naver in front, from the top of A'Chioch

Blue sky gone, icy snowy ascent ahead.

A clear bit, on the slope of Klibreck, looking back to Creag an Lochain which I have already come over.  Glorious.

Rest of the ascent wasn't quite so good!

Very icy summit trig point - had to hack the ice off just to check there was a trig point in there.

Had hoped to do Ben Hope today too, but time was just a little tight, so another night in the tent, and Ben Hope on Saturday.
