Ben Vane - 3/7/2004
A very pleasant walk, even if it was alone
| On Friday night Sharon said "Why don't you do something tomorrow, like climb a hill?" So I did. * the ones that have bigger ones behind if you are interested. | This was my first ascent of Ben Vane, Stuart and I tried on 27/12/10, but didn't quite make it. | |
* The approach, up the access track from Inveruglas to Loch Sloy. Ben Vane looks easy enough from here |
Ben Lomond, from the lowest reaches of Ben Vane. |
|
Starting to look a bit harder. And too hot for this walking nonesense!
|
A'Chrois, across the valley. |
|
Come a long way already. |
|
|
Ben Vorlich and Loch Sloy |
* Loch Lomond, Loch Arklet and Loch Katrine. |
|
* Loch Lomond, and the world! |
||
Nearly there now. |
And after a lovely clear morning, what happened the minute I got to the
top?
Cloud, mist and rain. Damn. |
|
Look, me and the top of the hill. |
Through the mist I could see all the things I had seen on the way up! |

This is the top, looking West to Beinn Ime etc. |
No, hold on, this is looking West to Beinn Ime. The last one was looking
East. Glad I have cleared that one up. |
|
Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond from the top of Ben Vane |
Beinn Narnain and the Cobbler |
|
Now the top is clear. Just my luck. |
* The day improves, as I get to see all the things I saw on the way up. |
|
A happy walker, getting sunburn. |
Storm clouds gather again at the top |
