Beinn a' Bhuird and Ben Avon

More Cairngorms, a long way off the road!

So after the Lochnagar 5 I drove down to Bridge of Dee (another £2.50 for parking) and cycled up Gleann an t-Slugain

Is this not a Kestrel?  It was on the path and not keen to move, perhaps a young one confused by a bicycle?

Pitched the tent further up Gleann an t-Slugain, but before the glen narrowed.  Lovely spot looking up to Meall an t-Slugain, and also back down the path.  And a comfy spot too.

Approaching the narrowing of the glen the next day.  Took the higher path, rightly or wrongly.

Path got steep and I abandoned the bike and headed down to the low path.  Turns out the high path was fine and improved up the hill, but I didn't know.

Round the corner and we finally see the North Top of Beinn a Bhuird, though I was hoping it wasn't as far as that!

Before the path split, looking to the South Top of Beinn a'Bhuird (the North Top is the munro)

Path up the back of Carn Fiaclach - well worth finding.

On reaching the ridge on the climb to the South Top, looking back to the narrow glen I came up and Lochnagar in the distance.

Still below the South Top, looking to Cnap a'Chleirich and Ben Avon on the right.  Far right is the ridge I came back down

Sight of the North Top on the left, and Ben Avon on the right.  A big flat expanse up here.

Looking West from Beainn a'Bhuird.  Beinn Bhreac in front on the left, and Beinn a'Chaorainn in the front on the right - what small munros.  Behind them we have Derry Cairngorm, Beinn Mheadhoin and loads more.

Top of Beinn a'Bhuird, looking to Ben Avon.  Cairngorms are flat on top, though there is a pull in-between.

Looking to the big Cairngorms we have yet to do.

Back to the South Top and cliffs of A'Chioch.

Approaching the Sneck, a 970m beleach - my favourite kind.  Less descent/ascent = easier going.

North into Slochd Mor

From the Sneck to Ben Avon

Looking back to the Sneck and North Top of Beinn a'Bhuird

And to Ben Avon itself - nearly there

Bit of mist and rain over there now (Beinn a'Bhuird), but I don't care as I am over here.

Leabaidh an Daimh Bhuidhe, the top of Ben Avon.  I guess the top is on the right, the hardest bit to get up.

From the second highest bit, yep that bit over there is higher

Looking back over the top to Slochd Mor and Stob an t-Sluichd

Beinn a'Bhuird disappearing in the mist

The top bit over there.  I did go up it, somewhat reluctantly.  After this the In-Pin will be a doddle!!

Safely back down, another look at the tor

Heading back, two ladies now standing on the second highest bit.

Fish eye picture of Glas Allt Mor on the way down.  Sneck on the right, home on the left.

Some Ptarmigans, disturbed by a smelly walker

Cliffs of Beinn a'Bhuird from Glas Allt Mor

And the long walk out, right round to the left

Farewell for now hills.

Last view before heading back down the narrow glen

After picking up the bike it was only about twenty minutes back down to civilization.  This is well down the path, at the gate.

A few red squirrels on the way down, though they weren't too keen on being photographed.

Another two Cairngorm hills, but loads left to go, and happy to go back to these ones too.
