Carn an Fhidhleir and An Sgarsoch - a long way from anywhere

Now this is hard work
What you doing at the weekend?  Fancy a ten and a half mile cycle, climbing some 300 metres, then a four mile hike into the Tarf Hotel with a big rucksack, in preparation for climbing two munros and returning all the way the next day?  Too late, we've done it.

Packing up, at the Old Bridge of Tilt car park.

It's a long road up Glen Tilt.

Finally time to get off the bikes, load up the rucksacks some more, and head off over the hill from Glen Tilt to Tarf Water.  Where did all that coal and beer come from.

And here we are at the Tarf Water, if only it was so easy.  That's the front of An Sgarsoch up there.

At last, our first view of the bothy.  Nearly there.

Tomorrow we head up the one on the left, and back over the one on the right.  WHY?

First things first, fire.

Out the back, with our two hills behind Mark, ready for the next day.

A real home from home.

Whisky, beer, a good fire and a fine meal.  Plenty of company seeking a heat from our fire, then it was bed, for an early start the next day to get up the hills and home before too late.

Day Two - breakfast. - early.

Off we go, first target is the top of that one, Carn an Fhidhleir.

Unfortunately Tarf Water was a) in the way and b) too deep to ford.  Freezing start to the day but hey ho.

Looking back to the bothy.

The day improves - why are we going up there?

At last, a hill I can link to - that's Carn a' Chlamain on the right.

The top of Carn an Fhidhleir.

We checked and this was definitely the top.

The way back.

Under the cloud, we now go down and up the hill on the left.  Somewhere in the middle is the beleach we need to head over to get back to Glen Tilt.

Looking over the shoulder of An Sgarsoch to the Beinn a Ghlo hills.

Top 2 for the day, An Sgarsoch.  Mark up to 160 now.

Presumably this is where the horse fair was?

A big country.

Carn a' Chlamain still under a cloud.

Truly a Big Country, but thankfully no fields on fire.

Looking back to Carn an Fhidhleir

Tarf Water glistening below

Nearly back on the flat, just to cross the river, over the beleach and back to the bikes now.

Searching for a suitable spot to cross (we didn't find one and got very wet).

Last view of the Tilt Water, Fhidhleir and An Sgarsoch

Carn nan Gabhar (Beinn a ghlo)

Running repairs, to fix a flat.

And home.  Knackerd as...  Didn't even manage a pint afterwards.  Must be one of the remotest spots we've done so far.
