Mount Keen, the most Easterly Munro.
Heading up Glen Mark |
|
Queen's Well, and behind that the track up the Ladder burn |
Built in memory of Queen Victoria's visit - hope she was impressed? |
Looking back from the bottom of the Ladder |
First glimpse of Mount Keen |
Icy track |
Getting a little closer. |
Random cairn on the way |
Looking all the way back down Glen Mark to the start |
And looking all the way back down Glen Mark to the start from further up. This is more like it. |
|
And another one, from the point where the drove road and hill road split. Looks lovely without the wind. |
|
And still the hill is that far away! |
Not looking quite so clever now, must be getting closer to the top. |
Nope, still a bit to go. But someone had been up to grit the paths! |
A somewhat pointless stone next to the summit. B for boundary allegedly. |
Summit, wind again not pictured but it was difficult to stand here. |
|
On the way down, some others on the way up |
|
Might be Lochnagar off in the distance? |
How come the sun always comes out once you are off the summit! |
|
I am sure it was snowier on the way up. Last view of Mount Keen for now |
|
All in all a relatively short walk, 2 hours 20 to the top. Spent more time in the car than on the hill. And with bikes you could do this even quicker.
