Galloway Hills - it's what Glasgow Fair is for?
Not a bad start, ticking off four hills with a pub-side camp thrown in.

Parked up in the Kirriereoch area, weather not quite as spendid as forecast, but no going back now.
Nice Sunday morning drive down to

Not looking overly promising!

Out of the woods, and off the track.

Shalloch on Minnoch remains under the clouds.  Should have headed up the ridge, but I opted to wander over the bog and up the steeper bit - how sensible!

Might be the top, but the view was worthwhile

Might also be the top of Shalloch on Minnoch - they all look the same!

Bit better view as I headed South to Tarfessock

Looking back up the hill, or to the next one?

Looking back up the hill, or to the next one?

Before the final pull up either Tarfessock or Kirrieroch Hill

Bit of a hill.

From the top, looking back to where I had been.

Think this one was it?  Kirreroech Hill looking to the Merrick.

Final ridge up to Merrick

Impressive Galloway view from the top.

On the way down, looking back to Merrick

Top of Kirriemore Hill

North to Shalloch on Minnoch on the right.

Been up there.  Now to find a campsite

This will do nicely - Kenbridge Hotel.

Perhaps the campsite wasn't quite so idylic, but really handy for the pub, and not exactly busy.

The next day I planned on hitting the other two corbetts down here - first Corserine - an up and back.

Again not looking too promising as I headed off the main road, up to the carpark past Forrest Lodge

Fair bit of trekking up forestry road - not too exciting.

At last, the open hill.

Not suprisingly the higher I got the hazier things became.

And I was plagued by flies - despite using the campsite facilities to maintain my personal hygeine.

Another stunning view.  Couldn't even get a picture of the herd of goats that spooked me up here.

Beginning to make out that the open hill part was nearly over.

And the long trudge back to the car, and on to hill two.

A simpler wander up Cairnsmore of Carsphairn to finish off.

Past the Green Well of Scotland (I was not impressed), wiht a view of the foothills - main summit in the mist of course.

Looking back towards Corserine etc.

Getting use to the disappearing world now.

The top - two cairns and a portable mast thing.  Very remote and desolate!

The summit plateau - not much going for it really.

A bit of a view?  Central ridge to get back down.

Seems to be clearing on the top, now I am headed down

Another look at Corserine

And a final look back up Cairnsmore of Carsphairn before I headed for home.
