Auchnafree Hill

Higher Than The Sun - Had  high hopes for a sunny day like Friday (and Sunday) but it was not to be.  Still great though.

At the gate on the drive up - a promising start despite the slightly road.

Loch Turret Reservoir, with Ben Chonzie on the left.

On the right, Choinneadhain Hill.  Auchnafree Hill is behind it.

An extended view of Loch Turret Reservoir, with Carn Chois and Ben Chonzie looking impressive.

Heading up the East side of Loch Turret Reservoir

By 9:30am I was expecting a bit more sunshine and day light.  Still it was quite pretty!

Fly past by a bi-plane.

Ben Chonzie again, and  a sheep.

Glen Turret, and two sheep.

And yet another look at the reservoir and Ben Chonzie.  Most tranquil.

Almost the same as last picture, but has a sheep.

By 10:15am it was clear that the day wasn't going to improve.  Choinneachain Hill on the left.  Looking back down the three miles of Loch Turret Reservoir.

Track heading up to Auchnefree Hill, and a sheep.

The top of Auchnafree Hill finally comes into view.

View from the top - it was not meant to be cloudy!  Large cairn on the side of Choinneachain visible on the skyline.

The non-summit cairn, with Ben Chonzie behind.  The summit cairn is reputedly a lot smaller, and was not visible in the snow, but I did wander around the plateau so happy I reached the top.

Saw several of these running about in the snow, though sadly this one won't be running anymore.  Couldn't get a picture of the mountain hares but there were a fair number of them too.

Top of Choinneachain Hill, as the snow started to get heavier and visibilty reduce.  So much for the weather forecast!

Welcome sight of the dam - time to get off the hill.
