May Weekend - Let's go to Arran

Last two Arran Corbetts - great weekend.

All set for a Friday night, training for the hills.

Reasonable morning

Glen Sannox, with the Witch's Step (more on that later).

Cir Mhor ahead.  Day improving.

and great paths.

Start of the climb to the Saddle between North Goatfell and Cir Mhor.

Path got quite steep in places.

Closer to the top, with that Witch's Step behind (we'll come back to that).

Glen Sannox from the other end.  Impressive place.

The Saddle, looking South to North Goatfell

Bouldery bit

Nearly there.  I believe that is Goatfell behind us.

The top of Cir Mhor.  And that Witch's step again!  That is the way we are heading back too.

Goatfell and North Goatfell from the summit.  Quite a view.

Oh look, Glen Sannox

And for our next Corbett - Caisteal Abhail at the end of Hunter's Ridge

First the down.

A view of Beinn Tarsuinn behind A Chir (it's a challening one apparently).

Time for a lie down - not really - this is the "well cairned springs" where Mark filled up his water.  Strange place for a spring!

View back to Cir Mhor and the Hunter's Ridge

Another Beinn Tarsuinn view

The rock at the top of Caisteal Abhail (the easy way up is round the other side).

Plenty of views from the top of this one.

A view!  Goatfell, Cir Mhor, and over the A'Chir ridge to Beinn Tarsuinn.  Arran is hard to beat on a day like this.  Off in the distance just to the right of Goatfell is the Holy Island, and our campsite at Lamlash (not visible).
DONE TO HERE

Then down the north ridge to the Ceum na Caillich (Witch's Step)

Avoiding the worst of the Step.  Scrambly bit not pictured!

Safely by the step.  I think that face is teh one we scrambled down.

And rest.  It had been a good day.

Final bit fof the ridge down.

The Saddle, and Cir Mhor

Last look up the glen

And what a glen.
Then surprisingly we retired to the pub in Lamlash for a light shandy and a bite to eat, so we were ready for the next day.

Sunday - 11 am - time to head up Mullach Buidhe, because it is a nice hill.

The hill, behind Pirnmill

Time to take in the views

Phone stop.  Yesterday's hills in teh background.

Over Beinn Bharrain.  Smashing day.

One of these is the summit.

Decided against the ridge scramble to come down

In a big country, dreams stay with you, like a lover's voice fires the mountainside. Stay alive

And back down we came

And rest.

That evening we took a stroll along to the local hosterly for another light shandy, I think.

And then back to the tent for a nightcap or two.  Lovely evening apart from the midgies

Hiding from the midgies

Wasn't only us hiding from the little blighters.
And that was our weekend in Arran - great hills, good weather, and happy camping.
