Stob Dubh

Before the weather was due to break I though I should try and do a couple of hills down Glen Etive

First up was Stob Dubh, from the North (allegedly easier!)  Hiked in to camp where I had camped when doing Beinn Mhic Chasgaig, just over a mile off the road.

Setting off, partly up a new path that wasn't there before!  My hill is in the middle, albeit the top if at the other end of the ridge

This is why there is a new road, and my campsite spot has been obliterated.  Oh well.

Fortunately I found another spot not too far on, with a nice view of Stob Dubh.  Very dry river though.

And from here no sign of the weir and new road thankfully.

Having pitched the tent I set off up the steep flank to gain the normal route on the ridge.

Meall Garbh - a pretty looking hill from here

Bliss.  Attained the ridge to be rewarded with a view of Buachaille Etive Mor from the back.

Could also see Buachille Etive Bheag from here.

And further down Glen Etive to Beinn Fhionnlaidh and so much more

Oh no, that's surely not my hill top away over there.  Yep it was.

Getting closer.  Glen Etive and Ben Starav down there

View back up the ridge - for the return journey

Still looming large

Wasn't actually too bad after all.  And well worth it

View North

Just magnificent.

Had thought that might be my planned hill for tomorrow (Beinn Trilleachan) but I think it is actually further down the glen.

Yep, over there in the middle.  Sadly I didn't get to it, as the road was closed just south of where I was, so I had to re-plan Friday - as you will see

Heading back.  Campsite down there somewhere.

Still a good bit of stomping down a stubbly hill to go

Finally saw the tent.  Time for beer/dinner/bed.  Tomorrow will be Meall Mor and Sgorr a Choise, but I didn't know that.
