Ben Leoid
About 5 miles cycling up Loch Glendhu, past the bothy, then about 3.75 miles on foot to the top. Bit of a wander on the way back, but all good. |
![]() Along Loch Gleann Dubh (Loch of the Black Glen), on a fairly rocky path for cycling. |

![]() Heading up that glen at the head of the loch. |
![]() Head of the loch. Bothy on the right. |
![]() Just keep following the track. |
![]() Far steeper than it looks. Bike abandoned. |
![]() Nice waterfall |
![]() Path climbing towards a hidden valley at the top of Gleann Dubh. |
![]() And here it is. Very tranquil. |

![]() And just keep following the track. Decent bridges too. |
![]() Top of the hill not looking promising. |
![]() End of the track, looking back to Gleann Dubh. |
![]() From the top of Sail na Slataich. Looking a little better. |
![]() As ever there were loads of other hills around. |
![]() Starting to go through the "slightly awkward boulderfield" - it was fine. Looking back over Sail na Slataich |
![]() Summit, looking east to Loch More |
![]() And north west to Quinag and Loch a'Chairn Bhain |
![]() Better than no view at all, and too many to start naming the other hills. |
![]() Heading back down, a final look at Ben Leoid. |
![]() Day improving a little. |
![]() Wandered a bit off course through the peat bog, but it was a nice day for a stroll. And some birds I couldn't identify. |
![]() Eventually I managed to find the top of the track back down. |
![]() And down we go. |
![]() From the bottom of that bit. |
![]() And the bottom of the next bit, in the hidden valley. |
![]() Final descent |
![]() |
![]() That waterfall again. |
![]() Back at the bike. |
![]() Route home. Last five miles by bike in an hour, so not the best track for cycling, but quicker than walking. |

![]() Had a quick look in the bothy. Sound. |
