Conival, For Sure?
Car park at Inchnadamph. Put the tent up in the dark, probably as well it ain't tourist season! |
Car park left behind at the loch side, as the path starts to climb up Gleann Dubh |
![]() First glimpse of a bit of the mountain |
It was a nice walk up the side of the River Traligill |
![]() Next time the cloud lifted and I could at least see where I had been, and spotted a much easier route back down. |
Wondered if this was the top? |
But I think this is the top really. You can tell as someone has put their ice axe there! |
Possibly the start of the ridge to Ben More Assynt, or certain death? Either way I decided to turn back at this point. |
Another lump of rock I clambered over, just in case it was the top too? |
![]() And as I came down, the clouds lifted - why does that happen so much! Think that's Canisp? |
![]() And now even more of Conival is clear. Oh how unfair! |
Some icy slight scrambling. |
The way back down, to the right. |
Nice walk back out though. |
Final view of the hill, note all the cloud cleared from the top! |
![]() Watch out, river in a cave! |

A last final view for now, until I return to claim Ben More Assynt |
