Beinn a Chreachain - Third or Fourth time lucky - 21/4/2002

Miserable but at last it's been done

Yet again Beinn a Chreachain tried to repel us, (see Achaladair and the failed attempt) but for once it lost!  This will be the last time we attempt the "splendid mountains forming the northern perimeter of the Bridge of Orchy group of peaks".  The "splendid views" do not appear to be worth the effort, given that it always pours down and blows a gail!!!!!!  Maybe we were unlucky!

Sunshine, obviously a decoy

A very small bit of Crannoch Wood, a rather nice Old Caledonian forest - yes it is the mighty Scots Pine!  It looked much more magnificent than this, but I was too knacked to take more pictures.

Lochan a' Chreachain. The walkers get tired and the weather gets worse.  This was the point at which we almost gave in again.  Bloody hill.

The North East ridge, yes I know it could be anywhere, but that is where it is.  Very windy, with big, big drops on both sides.  Can you see the guys following us?  (Well they were there when I took the pic).

After several years we get to see the top of Beinn a Chreachain.  Was it worth it?  Ask me later.

And then once we got lost coming off the top the wrong way we decided to stop for a relaxing lunch.  Just as well really, as the weather deteriorated after this.  In theory we should have seen Beinn Mhananch from here.

The first time I tried this hill I did scale Beinn Achaladair.

The second time we gave up.

There will not be another.
