Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe, in the wild Knoydart peninsula, miles from everywhere

15-17th November 2002

PART TWO (Back to page one)

The top of Meall Buidhe.

One man and his dog

This is mega, if the pc can cope.  Skye over the sea, then right along the skyline to Ladhar Bheinn.  Next time we are going up there.

Things cleared up on the way back down, you can see Skye in the picture...

...but I didn't capture the sun glinting of the snow capped peaks.  Well it was lovely, trust me.

That's Luinne Bheinn up there.....

and Meall Buidhe up there (not pictured).

Before the climb back up to Nam Barrisdale.  Getting very tired

Sunset - lovely to look at, not so good if you have a couple of miles to walk home down the other side?

Over the stream and up the hill to go home

Looking down the Abhainn Ghrugiag valley into the sunset. Any excuse for a rest, but it was lovelier than this.  And the view was pretty good.

Nam Barrisdale again.  Just the downhill left now.  What a day.

The next morning. The White House- wonder how it got it's name.  That's Luinne Bheinn at the back.  Has to be said that this was a really remote place, eight miles from the pub over the Mam Barrisdale, and seven miles back to the car down Loch Hourn.  Just us, Phyllis and her man, and the deerkiller here.   They were too busy getting on with their lifes to bother us and we were too tired to care!

View from the White House over Barrisdale Bay to Bheinn Sgritheall above Arnisdale.  Probably just a 20 mile hike, so next time....  No, got  to do Ladhar Bheinn, one of Scotland's most impressive mountains, though rarely seen unless you have hiked into Barrisdale.

Luinne Bheinn again, with Nam Barrisdale in the dip on the right.  As we were leaving.  Another cracking day dawns,

Loading up the rubbish.

Luinne Bheinn again.  Another cracking day dawns.

Setting off for home.  I wasn't looking forward to this bit

And looking over Barrisdale Bay to Bheinn Sgritheall above Arnisdale. This is easier than walking.

Dodgy 700 yard sign referred to above. Maybe a yard is longer in Barrisdale?

One of Kristan's calendar pictures - Stob a Chearcaill poking up on the left, as it does, and the allegedly wonderful Ladhar Bheinn on the right.

More of Ladhar Bheinn over Barrisdale Bay.

Up Loch Hourn, we just have to go all the way up there and then some.

Not on the sunny side of the Loch.

The final stretch back to the car.  The civilsed end of the path.

Warning to anyone contemplaating such a journey, this could happen to you.  Ouch!!!

Finally thanks to Mark and Kristan for carrying all the heavy stuff, and organising a great weekend.  Looking forward to the next time (hangovers included).
